Dead Rising 2 PS3, Xbox 360 No. 3 in Sept. U.S. sales

Capcom Co.'s Dead Rising 2 for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 and
Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 ranked in the top three Sept. U.S. sales in
the latest retail data.

NPD Group Inc. this month said In Dead Rising 2 ranked No. 3 in the
top 10 games sales for Sept.

Capcom Co. this month released the Dead Rising 2 Psychopath Theme to
the Playstation Network and Xbox Live.

Dead Rising 2 includes customizable weapons, including combining nails
to a bat or screws to the inside of a bucket. New weapons can add
custom zombie kill animations.

In addition, the two-player online co-op functionality will allow
users to split up and complete multiple objectives.

In Dead Rising 2, Chuck Greene is a contestant in the TV show Terror
is Reality, in which four members compete in a series of zombie
killing challenges.

Dead Rising 2 allows up to four players to go head-to-head online to
determine the ultimate zombie slayer.

The final game is set in Fortune City, America's entertainment playground.

The title was developed at Canada-based Blue Castle Games with a
number of members of the original Dead Rising team. Capcom global head
of research and development Keiji Inafune will produce.

The PS3 is sold in a 160GB SKU at $299.99, 250GB SKU at $349.99.

Playstation Move Console Bundle will include a PS3 320GB SKU,
Playstation Move Controller, Playstation Eye, and Sports Champions at
$399.99.

Microsoft in Sept. began sale of the Xbox 360 250GB Halo: Reach Bundle
at $399.99.

In Nov., it will sell the Xbox 360 250GB Kinect Special Edition Bundle
at $399.99.

Finally, the Xbox 360 4GB with Kinect bundle will sell at $299.99.

Videogame Manufacturer to Stop Allowing Players to Assume Role of Taliban

The videogame manufacturer Electronic Arts, bowing to strong criticism
from U.S. military officials and veterans organizations, made changes
Friday to "Medal of Honor," the newest installment in its series of
American-based war games.

Set in modern-day Afghanistan, "Medal of Honor" had been designed to
allow players to take on the role of the Taliban in its multiplayer
mode, and to kill American soldiers -- a capability that came under
withering fire from military officials and U.S. veterans.

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service went so far as to request that
American military bases not stock it.

"Out of respect to those we serve, we will not be stocking this game,"
Maj. Gen. Bruce Casella, the service's commanding officer, said in an
interview. "We regret any inconvenience this may cause authorized
shoppers, but are optimistic that they will understand the sensitivity
to the life and death scenarios this product presents as
entertainment." On Friday, the gaming company waved the white flag.

"We changed the name of the opposing team in the multiplayer mode,"
said Electronic Arts publicist Amanda Taggart. "Now the opposing team
is called 'opposing forces.'"

The game's executive producer, Greg Goodrich, also addressed critics
and war officials on the "Medal of Honor" blog Friday morning, saying,
"This franchise will never willfully disrespect, intentionally or
otherwise, your memory and service."

The changes are exclusive to the multiplayer mode, Taggart noted.
"Game-play, environment, characters and weapons are exactly the same"
in the single-player game, she said, meaning the player, who is always
on the American side, can kill the Taliban to his heart's content.

Videogames that deal with war and combat have elicited disdain from
some war veteran organizations, including AMVETS, an organization
dedicated to accommodating American soldiers.

"We've heard from vets about games in the past that deal with wars,"
Deputy National Communications Director Ryan Galucci said. "And
products like this trivialize combat."

"Medal of Honor" isn't the first game to spark controversy for
allowing players to control nationally recognized American enemies.
"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II," a game developed by Activision,
allowed players to control Taliban-like forces, though they didn't
bear the actual name.

Activision satisfied its critics by offering to donate a portion of
their profits from the game to the Call of Duty Endowment, which
benefits veterans.

Galucci suggested that Electronic Arts should do the same.

"There's a way for EA to turn this into a positive experience," he
said. "They can ... donate a share of their income from the game to
veterans."

Set for an Oct. 12 release, "Medal of Honor" has already reached the
highest number of pre-sale units sold in the franchise's 11-year
history, Electronic Arts said.

PlayStation: Move in on the best motion controller

Console wars have been reignited with Sony introducing its latest
piece of kit for the PS3, Move, which has launched just ahead of rival
Xbox 360's Kinect, which hits the shelves on 10 November.

These motion controllers allow gamers to tap into the fun of simulated
sports and exercise previously only widely available on the Nintendo
Wii, with players able to wield light sabres or run the 100m in the
comfort of their own living room.

Launched on September 15, Move has earned favourable reviews and with
a recommended retail price for the starter pack of £49.99 (including
motion controller, eye camera and starter disc), it is inexpensive
compared to the initial pricing of Xbox's Kinect (RRP £129.99).
However, there are ways and means of getting the starter pack for less
than £20.

Cheapest online

Online department store Very has an advertised price of £45, but if
you are a new customer and go via MyVoucherCodes and open a credit
account, inputting the promotional code ZZ018, you get £20 off the
price, for a reduced total of £28.95 (including £3.95 delivery).

High street

Asda is selling the Move pack for £39.67, while Sainsbury's is a
smidgen higher at £39.99, but check store availability before setting
out.

Other deals and additional items

If you have software to exchange you can trade it in and get money off
at Game. For example, if you have Dead Rising 2 to trade in you will
get £25 off the £44.99, leaving you with only £19.99 to pay. Completed
Super Mario Galaxy 2? Get £18 off by trading it in.

Additional motion controllers can be bought from Tesco Direct for £28.70.

The navigation controller (RRP £24.99) is an optional extra used to
move characters around in a game, and does not track movements. Online
this is available from Play.com or Amazon for £17.99. In store, Toys R
Us is charging £21.89.

If you are starting from scratch and need to buy a PS3 as well as
Move, Toys R Us and Play.com have a 320GB PS3 and Move starter pack
for £269.99. Currys and Amazon include a choice of games as well for
£284.99.

If you already have the PS3 but want a Move game, Sports Champions has
a recommened price of £29.99, but you can buy it from Play.com for
£22.69; for £24.97 from Asda both instore and on-line; and for £24.99
at Game.

PS3 drives 17% Blu-ray adoption.

Arguably the most significant differentiating factor for Sony's
PlayStation 3 is its built-in Blu-ray player, which provides both
increased storage space for games and high-definition video playback.
Earlier this year, a study by The Nielsen Company indicated that the
console's Blu-ray playback capability was the number one motivating
factor behind potential PS3 purchases, but a new study indicates that
consumers are increasingly turning to devices dedicated to the format.

The PS3 remains the dominant Blu-ray player…for now.
As reported by Home Media Magazine, a new study by Centris indicates
that while the PS3 remains the dominant Blu-ray media player at 47
percent, dedicated Blu-ray players are a close second at 45 percent.
According to Centris' research, the PS3 enjoyed a two-to-one advantage
over Blu-ray players up until six months ago, when dedicated devices
began quickly gaining ground.

Those large gains in Blu-ray player growth are indicative of explosive
adoption of the media format among US households within the past few
years. Centris' research indicates that 17 percent of all US
households have at least one Blu-ray Disc player, a figure that has
doubled since 2008. Further, about 1.7 million US households own both
a PS3 and Blu-ray player.

By comparison, DVD player adoption reportedly stands at 95 percent,
and mail-order movie rental service Netflix has penetrated 15 percent
of US households. Centris' research also cites figures from The NPD
Group indicating that Apple-based computers have found their way into
12 percent of US homes through the end of 2009, while adoption of
Microsoft's Windows-based PCs stood at 85 percent.

As for the practical application of Centris' findings, the report
noted that Blu-ray Disc growth requires that the format move beyond
its heavy reliance on the PS3.

Disco atascado en la consola

Si al expulsar el disco de tu consola, este no ha salido del todo y la consola piensa que lo ha expulsado, no intentes cogerlo con unas pinzas o algo similar. No serás capaz.

La solución es sencilla, apaga la consola y vuelve a encenderla. Detectará el disco y lo volverá a introducir dentro. Ahora vuelve a apretar el botón para sacar el disco y todo solucionado.
